About the Summit

The Securitisation Summit is the annual coming together of stakeholders in structured finance industry in India. Starting 2012, the Summit was a much-awaited annual feature, year on year. The last edition was held in November 2021 after a break of more than one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event was a huge success with a record participation from over 150 participants from various organisations. This edition will mark the 10th anniversary of the Summit.

Over the years, it has developed into a definitive and widely-participated rendezvous of the structured finance fraternity having interest in Indian securitisation. The claim to achievement of the Summit is not only the wide participation from all stakeholders, but the fact that every year, we pick up points for advocacy and we take the same up with the relevant regulators, policy-makers or other concerned persons, so as to resolve/achieve what is desired. The resolution of the distribution tax issue, withholding taxes on payment to SPVs as well as permission to FIIs for investing in securitisation transactions were picked up during previous summits, and we achieved effective results.

Over the past couple of years, the NBFC sector had to rely on securitisation and direct assignments as key source of funding, owing to the liquidity crisis. The FY 2021-22 has also been very promising with INR 80,000 crores in the first three quarters. In the meantime, new developments like covered bonds have been surfacing.

The market is clearly coming out of the bounds of priority-sector lending, as is clear from emergence of non-traditional asset classes, and also emergence of non-traditional investors.

To add to the importance of the 10th Summit, the stakeholders will interested to know the after-effect of the RBI Master Directions on Securitisation and Transfer of Loans, issued right in the middle of FY2021-22, on the securitisation market. With new directions in place, which replaced the 15-year-old framework, securitisation is all set to scale the next level of development. To be a part of this exciting journey, we invite you all to join us at the Summit. You are sure to meet the who’s-who of the Indian structured finance space – the originators, investors, rating agencies, legal counsels, accounting experts, global experts, and of course, regulators.
