Securitisation of healthcare receivables is not new – as a matter of fact, it acquired a bit of sour taste thanks to the fraudulent securitisation of non-existing receivables by Towers Financial almost 10 years ago – see our page on sad episodes here.

However, there have been number of innovative transactions of securitisation of healthcare receivables, both in the USA and Europe.

In UK, one recent transaction, reportedly the first of its kind, was the securitisation of healthcare receivables by General Healthcare Group-see our news report here.. The acquisition of the Group was funded by Morgan Stanley when the acquirer bought the Group from a private equity fund. Now Morgan Stanley is helping the group to securitise its whole business revenues [for more on whole business securitisation, see our page here] and raise some GBP 975 million.
